Andrzej Wiśniewski PROPOSITIONS , POSSIBLE WORLDS , AND RECURSION
نویسنده
چکیده
The issue of reduction of propositions to sets of possible worlds is addressed. It is shown that, under some natural assumptions, there always exist recursive propositions, i.e. decidable sets of possible worlds, which are not assigned to any sentence of a language. Some consequences of this result are discussed.

Decidability of Quantified Propositional Intuitionistic Logic and S4 on Trees of Height and Arity ≤ω
Quantified propositional intuitionistic logic is obtained from propositional intuitionistic logic by adding quantifiers ∀p, ∃p, where the propositional variables range over upward-closed subsets of the set of worlds in a Kripke structure. If the permitted accessibility relations are arbitrary partial orders, the resulting logic is known to be recursively isomorphic to full second-order logic (K...
متن کاملKnowledge and the Logic of Local ( Extended abstract ) Propositions
An agent's limited view of the state of a distributed system may render globally different situations indistinguishable. A proposition is local for this agent whenever his view suffices to decide this proposition. Motivated by a framework for the development of distributed programs from knowledge-based specifications, we introduce a modal logic of local propositions, in which it is possible to ...
متن کاملDeduction with Contradictions in Datalog
We study deduction in the presence of inconsistencies. Following previous works, we capture deduction via datalog programs and inconsistencies through violations of functional dependencies (FDs). We study and compare two semantics for datalog with FDs: the first, of a logical nature, is based on inferring facts one at a time, while never violating the FDs; the second, of an operational nature, ...
متن کاملUsing Modal Structures to Represent Extensions to Epistemic Logics
Kripke structures have been proposed as a semantic basis for modal logics of necessity and possibility. They consist of a set of states, informally interpreted as "possible worlds", and a binary accessibility relation between states. The primitive notion of a possible world in this context seems highly intuitive, since necessity can be interpreted as "truth in all possible worlds", and possibil...
متن کاملogic of Knowle ge and Belief for * e Preliminary Report
To make informed decisions in a multiagent environment, an agent needs to model itself, the world, and the other agents, including the models that those other agents might be employing. We present a framework for recursive modeling that uses possible worlds semantics, and is based on extending the Kripke structure so that an agent can model the information it thinks that another agent has in ea...
